St James & St Michael's is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, shared between St James's and the neighbouring parish of St John, Hyde Park Crescent. The school caters for children up to the age of eleven. The main building is in Craven Terrace and dates from 1862. In January 2004 the School opened a new Nursery class in the crypt of St James's. The existing Reception class joined the nursery in the purpose-built Early Years Unit, thus making more space available in the main building. Places in the school are free.
